Death of Mrs. Mary [McKinnon] McLelland on Oct. 26, 1898; probably buried in Mt. Joy.
MRS. MARY McCLELLAND.
This aged and respected lady passed away at the home of her son Douglas in Haynes township Thursday evening. Deceased had been ailing about two years. Cause of death heart failure caused by general dropsy.
Mrs. McLelland was born in Scotland in the town of Benivis in 1828 and would have been 70 years of age the 25th of Oct.
Her husband was a carpenter and was drowned in the Ottawa River in 1862; his canoe was overturned during a storm. The surviving children are Mrs. Isabella Dewar, Alex McLellan, Mrs. Flora McNeil, Miss Lizzie and Dougald McLelland, who were present. Her son John resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and a daughter, Mrs. John McKinnon, resides in the state of Washington.
The interment took place Sunday afternoon. The services were held in the school house of district No. 1. Rev. Tompkins conducted the services, assisted by Rev. Long. The undertaker was Chas. Mayo of Harrisville.
