Death of George C. Wagner on 6/8/1887.
ALL ALONG THE SHORE.

Oscoda and Au Sable Notes.
From the Saturday Night.
Wednesday evening about 7 o'clock, George Wagner, the 11-year old son of John Wagner, of the Vienna bakery, Au Sable, while playing on a boom log in the river near his father's shop, fell into the water and was drowned. A couple of small boys who were with him at the time at once notified his father, but by the time he got there there was no trace of the boy. A party at once began dragging the river for the body, but did not find it. The river has since been dragged from the place where he fell in to the mouth, and torpedoes have been exploded with the hopes of raising the body, but all to no purpose, as it has not yet been recovered. As the current in the river is pretty swift it is likely that the body has been carried out into the lake. Mr. and Mrs. Wagner have the sympathy of the community in the loss of their only son.
