Death of Charles E. Nubert.
DROPPED DEAD.
--------
Charles E. Newburt of Alcona Receives a Sudden Call.
--------
Charles E. Newburt, a respected German citizen living on the outskirts of the village of Alcona died very suddenly last week of heart failure.
Deceased, in company with a small boy, was driving to Black River with a load of garden truck. The day was cold and the wind was keen, and the man and lad took turns driving and walking. They had gotten a short ways above Lumbard's when the boy, who was walking at the time, saw the old gentleman fall backward in a half-sitting posture. He did not think anything of this for a time, but when he came up with the rig he saw at once that something was wrong. Mr. Newburt's lips were moving slightly, but no sound came from them. The boy drove back to Lumbard's and when there arrived the sick man man was past human aid.
Deceased was 56 years of age and had been a resident of Alcona County about 20 years. He enjoyed the respect and esteem of his neighbors, and was an industrious farmer and a good citizen. He leaves a widow and six children as follows: Mrs. Ernest Degie of Alpena, Mrs. Mat Hartigan of Black River, Misses Minnie, Lena and Christina and Charles, Jr. all of Alcona.
The Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Anne's Church, Rev. Fr. Poulin officiating.
