SARAH COLWELL KENNEDY.
--------
Former Harrisville Lady Died at Skamokawa, Wash.
--------
From the Skamokawa Eagle:
The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Colwell Kennedy, wife of Mr. Ferguson Kennedy, took place from the family residence on the Island Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. Grim, of Astoria, conducted the services both at the home and at the grave, and a choir sang several appropriate hymns. There was a large gathering of old and new friends present. The following gentlemen were pall bearers: John Lamont, Thos. Craine, Elias Cornell, W. W. Marshall, Henry C. Newell, and S. G. Williams. The interment was in Fernhill cemetery. It was originally intended to take Mrs. Kennedy to Portland, but later the family decided to bury her here.
Sarah Colwell Kennedy was born near Belfast Ireland, in May 1838. She was married to Mr. Kennedy in Ireland 46 years ago. They first moved to Canada and from there to Michigan where their children were born. From Michigan the family moved to Skamokawa in 1889 where Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy have since resided.
Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the old Scotch Presbyterian church of Ireland, but she affiliated with the Methodist society of this place and was always an earnest, zealous worker for the Master, and the little church in Skamokawa by her death loses a loving friend. She was a loving and affectionate wife and mother and a host of Skamokawa people mourn her as a true friend.
