JOHN MacDERMAID, 81 DIED SUNDAY AT LINCOLN
--------
Resident of Alcona County Nearly 60 years
--------
John MacDermaid, who came to Alcona county 57 years ago, died Sunday at his home in Lincoln. He was 81 years of age and is survived by his widow and six children.
Mr. MacDermaid was born June 26, 1848 in Ontario. A year or two after coming to Michigan he returned to Canada and married Isabel Scott. In his early years he was a builder and many of the older buildings about this section of the county were erected under his direction.
He lived at various times in Harrisville, Greenbush and Gustin, but for the last four years made his home in Lincoln. He and Mrs. MacDermaid spent the winter with their children in Flint and remained there until he became ill and wanted to return home, arriving there last Thursday. He became worse while at dinner Sunday and died a few minutes later.
The surviving children are Mrs. Charles Severance, John E. MacDermaid, Mrs. Norman Gould, Mrs. Bert Wickham, Robert MacDermaid and Mrs. Henry Haist, all of Flint.
Funeral services were held at Lincoln Tuesday afternoon with Rev. C. M. Boyce in charge. Members of Harrisville Lodge I.O.O.F., of which the deceased was a charter member, joined with the Lincoln Odd Fellows and attended the service in a body wearing the regalia of the order.
